A Little Girl In Woods

In the thick woods, travelled a girl with fear beating upon her chest
Snow covered trails didn’t provide any solace; no time to rest
For the winter wolves beckon and announce their arrival
She had a hunter’s knife in her hands – her only means of survival
Frozen white limbs of trees gave no comfort to her plight
She quickened her pace in fear she would lose the path in sight

Her heart throbbed as her body shuddered in snow,
For she wished not to be the ‘Ichabod’ of this sleepy hollow
She heard the wolves ever so close, as if a whisper distance away
She saw the eyes of yellow giving chase much to her dismay
She ran with all her might, each step seemed wading through wet sands

She could hear a wolf pounding down with teeth glaring wide,
Tired of running and being a victim, she decided to fight

Tempest

Thunder (Photo credit: mhaller1979)

The bellowing raven clouds,
Release their burden upon the crowds
As they writhe in agony effusing torrential rain,
So intriguing is their symphony of pain

The moonlight cascades through the streets,
While lightning pierces the blanket of night
Insidiously, imminent tempest roars;
Resounding through my tumultuous soul

Intentions none more than malign,
Enter into the gateway of my mind
Futile thoughts intertwined,
Convoluted by design

I took the road less travelled;
A forlorn-figure shambling along the street
I beheld drooping roses in cemetery,
Resonating with my sheer misery

As I traversed along, I realised -
A glimmer of a hope at the far end
Illuminating the desolate path
That I couldn’t otherwise apprehend

I forswore walking the path of blind;
In the light of darkness, I stood reborn
I rose like a phoenix, soaring high up in the sky;
Throwing off the shackles that kept me confined

A Little Girl In Woods

In the thick woods, travelled a girl with fear beating upon her chest

For the winter wolves beckon and announce their arrival
She had a hunter’s knife in her hands – her only means of survival
Frozen white limbs of trees gave no comfort to her plight

She saw the eyes of yellow giving chase much to her dismay
She ran with all her might, each step seemed wading through wet sands

She could hear a wolf pounding down with teeth glaring wide,
Tired of running and being a victim, she decided to fight
She swerved and plunged her dagger into it deep inside
Wolf’s blood dripped down the blade covering her trembling hands
With the taste of victory, she prepared for the vicious battle

She fought the pack of wolves off all night
Blistered, bloody, clothes ravaged and torn – a terrible sight
However, this little girl had grown up that night.
She drove the wolves away, but kept hide of one as a prize.
It was her badge of honour that she carried with pride

Dawn welcomed her, as did the smell of breakfast from her family home,
The family embraced her, as her father admired her coat of grey
Her father realized his little girl is now a woman today

Delusion

Shimmering moon has captivated my soul
Arousing my senses right from within
Abandoning myself to its splendour seems an easy task
If I could only let go, and drop this mask

The sea glistens in cascade of moonlight
This sandy shore shimmering warm and bright,
All seem apparelled in celestial white
Enlighten the dull night with their passion

I’m adrift in a tide of conflicting emotions
Looking for myself in the wake of many delusions,
I come across this elusive lithium harbour,
Which soothes and cradles my senses.

Clouds are the only set pieces of this stage of wonder
Watching this fantasy become reality in my mind,
It drips from my hand like grains of sand
as it then breaks into nothingness before me.

Memories

Musing on what to write
It seems as if there’s a void
I ruminate over the bygone times
As I unfold the pages of my mind
I take trip down the memory lane
Which makes those remembrances lucid:
Like a serene cloudless summer day
These memories are like an old wine;
Sweetened over the time

Solace

I’ve found myself swimming once again,
Swimming across this boundless sea.
As I approach the distant shore,
The tide drags me back to sea.
The shore I craved and longed for
Has fallen dark and disavowed me
So I push through the turbulent sea
I tire to keep afloat,
And I almost drown yet again
But luckily I am spotted by a boatman
Who drags me aboard by strength
The warmth of his benign smile
Has brought me the solace I seek
When I look at this man,
It is you I see, my friend.

A mind without misgivings

Here is a piece of my mind that many may see as naivety-
I long for a place where the latent finds voice
More than just a small talk or obscure noise
Where the mind can sing unchained melodies
So wonderful shall be such melodious prosody
